Movement Lab is a guided play space where participants can listen to how they want to move for optimal mental/physical/emotional/spiritual health. The idea is that the body is full of wisdom and when we take time to listen we can find a world of informative self care. Sometimes we need to be gentle through soothing movements while other times we need to exert will and strength. Movement gives us a full range of infinite possibilities and in this respect, we ask that you trust your body’s wisdom through this guided journey.
Participants will find their level of intensity, whether they are looking for rigorous exercise or gentle movement. This delicate balance is done by mostly using floor work, and then led through developmental stages of movement that replicate evolution as well as human development. You will be guided from stillness to dancing and all the many “stages” in between.
Please bring a yoga mat and an open mind, ready to listen to that wondrous body…

Jodi Schwartz-Levy, PhD, LPC has been developing this work for as long as she can remember. She grew up dancing and while she loved the freedom of dance, she was frustrated that all movement forms focused on the external experience. When Jodi found somatic practices, it was a natural fit, as it explored the body’s internal experience. Her belief in the mind/body connection drew her to receive a PhD in Somatic Psychology. As a practicing somatic psychologist for over a decade, she longed to offer classes that would offer her students the same bliss, release, and empowerment that she would discover in her personal movement practice.
