Many women begin to experience the symptoms of menopause up to 10 years before actual menopause. These can include increased anxiety, mood swings, sleep disturbance, shifts in food tolerance and many other changes. This workshop will give students meditation, pranayama (breath control) and asana (physical exercises) to navigate this unpredictable time. We will practice proven methods of stress reduction, memory improvement, bone strengthening and balance improvement.
When Blakey started to started to experience unexplained physical pain and anxiety attacks at barely 40 years old she thought she might be seriously ill or losing her mind. She found out that she was beginning menopause, the uneven hormone fluctuations were causing changes in her reaction to food and dizzying mood swings. She adjusted her diet and her yoga practice to accommodate this new ever shifting landscape and has reconnected with her own sense of resiliency and strength. She hopes to share what she has learned with other women.
No yoga experience necessary. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a mat, if you have one.
